Eid Break In Mecca

During this year’s Eid Break, my whole family and me spent almost 9 days in Mecca. When we reached in the city, we were stuck in the traffic for hours. The city is full of people coming from around the world. Especially when it is the last 10 days of Ramadan. Muslims believe that the last days of Ramadan is a special and there is one night where it is called the Lailatul Qadr. This is a special night, which they believe in, however no one knows when this night will fall on. One more thing that I should mention is that the hotels are hard to get and the cost of it during the last days are very expensive. Even though, we spent thousands of riyals, we only got a small room with three beds. The room was really small that we only could sleep in it.

Life during the 9-day period was boring because I had nothing to do. Each prayer time, I had to go to the mosque. My sleeping pattern change when I was living there. Instead of sleeping during the night, I had to sleep during the daytime. Sometimes I sleep almost the whole day^_^

I also had great times when I was away from my family especially from my brothers! Almost everyday in Mecca, I spent all my time on my own except for sleeping. Sometimes I go roaming around all by myself in the malls over there. I am free from my family for quite awhile and I enjoyed the times….

We break our fast before dusk in the mosque and we only eat few dates and drink water. Then we wait until 10:30 p.m., after prayers, to go out to eat. The best thing about it is that I go out on my own to eat. I eat fast food everyday in Mecca, and I’ve grown fatter>.<. This is my everyday life in Mecca for 9 days during the Eid Break.
